Seduced By Shadows by Jessa Slade

Seduced By Shadows

Written by: Jessa Slade

Reading Source: Library
Series: Marked Souls
Book #: 1
Genre: Adult Paranormal Romance
Rating:

At first, I was reluctant to select this book -- I had never really read a "demon romance" before. However, I picked it up anyway, not wanting to be a book snob... and I made the right choice. This book has an whole new world that I've never seen in a book before - granted I haven't read the entire genre... but I've read quite a few.

Sera Littlejohn deals with death daily, she's an end of life councilor. Now she's dealing with it in her own life; Sera was seriously injured and subsequently handicapped by a car accident. And this isn't she's come close to death. Her past is the reason for her future, Sera Littlejohn is demon possessed.

Ferris Archer is part of a League of Warriors that fight the "bad demons." When he discovers that Sera is the newly possessed, he feels the need protect her, to warn her of her future. He's willing to keep her safe at all costs.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are fun and detailed. The story-line is great! This was emotional, suspenseful, fresh and totally worth reading. I might even read it again.

Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian

Kiss of Midnight (Midnight Breed, #1)

Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian

This is the first book in the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian.

Another wonder. I love this genre of books - but the covers make me want to bury my head in the sand like an ostrich. I'm pretty sure ostriches bury their heads because they are embarrassed by the way they look..... well I too feel that way now.... This one at least makes more sense than Moon Called....  if you don't know what I mean check out the link to my review.... the cover has a half naked chick plastered on it. If I was a lesbian or a dude I'd tap that. Does putting myself into either of those positions make me partially either one???? Possibly - but it is not nearly as bad if I was a dude commenting on another dude...

So onward 'ho with the reviewing of the book....

I've read this book twice... I really like the sex scenes. But that's not all I like. Lucan is a warrior of old, literally. He is a gen one vampire, and the founder of the order. A league of Vampires that have dedicated their immortal lives to fighting and killing off Rogues - Vampires that have succumbed to blood lust. In this world of blood and mayhem Vampires are only male and they are only able to breed with a small percentage of human females that bear the mark of the breed. This is where Gabrielle comes in... (no big shocker that she is a breedmate - get your panties in a bunch if you like - but what kind of story would this be if the lead female wasn't compatible with the hero?)

Gabrielle has never been quite normal - and had a very rough go of things as a child. Finding out that vampires were real rocked the whole foundation of her life. Because of what she is, she is able to see things that normal humans cannot. What she witnesses puts her in danger, because there is war coming. An inhuman war between the Breed and the Rouges, and it is unlike anything they have dealt with before.

Overall, I enjoyed this book enough to read it twice. The back stories of these types of vampires are interesting. In this vamp history, vampires are actual the male descendants of aliens and human females. These aliens were not prepared for Earth, and thus were unable to survive with out the aid of blood.

Eternal Hunger by Laura Wright

Eternal Hunger (Mark of the Vampire #1)

Eternal Hunger by Laura Wright

Reading Source: Library
Series: Mark of the Vampire
Book #: 1
Genre: Adult Paranormal Romance
Rating:

Let me start off by saying that I've read the entire trilogy and I'll probably again.

That being said, let us talk about Eternal Hunger. I'm not going to lie to you. I checked this out from the library because of the cover. I was like "Hmmm does that shirtless man really think he's sexy like that? Does anyone else think he's sexy... Maybe I'll get this book to cement in my mind that I've grown out of PNR." Well, that same day I got Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione (I was having an "L" day... it happens) and between that one and this, I was so totally wrong.... This was a great spin on the Vampire PNR. I've never heard of the way these vampires were and lived and it was refreshing.

In the world that Laura Wright has woven around the Roman Brothers, Vampires are able to walk in the sun up until their 300th year, and forever if they are female. There are three different kinds of vampires too. Pure blood, like the Roman Brothers, those Pure bloods are the creme de la creme of vampires, the Godiva Chocolate of vampires if you will (I'm feeling the need for chocolate if you cannot tell...) The next step down is Impure vampires. Those are the ones that have something other than pure blood vampire blood in them. They are not allowed to breed and are generally the poor class of vampires ( I would compare them to chocolate, but I can't think of a kind of chocolate that isn't good... perhaps left over Easter candy in July?????) And then there is the Imitation Vampire, the human who has drank vampire blood, but has no vampire lineage.... The Ovaltine of Vampires (for those of you unfamiliar with Ovaltine... it is imitation chocolate milk mix.... you know the strange powder you put into milk to make it look and taste  like chocolate milk... until you get that strange gritty aftertaste....)

Well, back to business... Alexander Roman is the oldest Roman Brother and he is tapped for the change 100 years before his time because the high council of Vampires (they have a name... the 10 or something like that) needs him to hunt down an Impure that is trying to rebel against the pure bloods. It is during this change that were are introduced to Dr. Sara Donohue. You see Alexander was caught outside near dawn on the night of his change, and in an attempt to shield himself from the sun, he hides in the bottom level doorway of a brownstone apartment, Sara's apartment. This is where the story gets even better.

I could wax poetic about this book for a while, and I feel like I have already gone into a lot of detail... which reading back I have... partially due to my intense need for chocolate right now, but I'm on a roll, so bring on more butter.... The Roman Brothers are unique in the fact that they are sons of the Breeding Male, and each of them could potentially become a breeding male at the time of their change. If they do not change and then have the mark of a true life mate they will turn into rutting bastards who run around impregnating anything that moves.

That one thing is a driving force of the entire series... READ IT!!!

Izzy Out!!!

Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione

Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1)Pleasure Unbound
Written by Larissa Ione

Reading Source: Library
Series: Demonica
Book #: 1
Genre: Adult Paranormal Romance
Rating:

For a very brief while I thought that I grew out of paranormal romance.... Horrifying, I know.... that was until I read Pleasure Unbound. I loved this book. It was the tall cool glass of water my dehydrated paranormal lust-o-meter needed to start working again.

Tayla and Eidolon's story is unlike any other PNR I've ever read. Reading the summary that was provided, I was a bit skeptical... a Demon Killer falling for a Demon Doctor, and a Demon Doctor to boot.... but my skepticism was totally uncalled for.

Tayla is a demon slayer, an Aegis. She believes in the cause with every inch of her being. After being mortally wounded in a fight with a demon, a fight in which her partner dies, she is brought to the only demon hospital around.

Eidolon is a doctor first and a Seminus Demon second. He fights his nature because he knows what lies on the other side of 100, an unrelenting need to copulate with any female able to bear his children. Eidolon is trying to stave off the change using his medical knowledge, but nature is hard to fight.

From their first conscious encounter both Eidolon and Tayla are drawn to each other. Both unable to tamp down on the overwhelming sexual need coiling within them. It doesn't take them long to join together, the only problem is Tayla cannot reach her peak. Baffled by this, the Incubus Eidolon feels that this is why he is continually drawn back to Tayla, despite her being Aegis.

The two are an unlikely duo to solve a mystery, but the original sexual connection, and Eidolon's hormones, create a need in him to save her, so upon taking her home, Eidolon and Tayla stumble across a horrifying discovery.... Someone is selling "supernatural" body parts on the black market.

This was a fantastic book and I can't wait to read the next one... and then the next one and then the next one.... I think you get the picture.... Larissa Ione - you rekindled my love of PNR!
